Meet Sam Fallavollita
Sam has always had a passion for baking and has competed in several events, as well as taking many baking classes in school. Her fondant skills have come from her work here at The Cake Boutique. Beginning as our very first intern, she is now one of our cake decorators. We will be sad to see her leave this fall to attend Johnson and Wales University.

Her favorite dessert to make is cake pops! "When making cake pops you don't need a fancy machine to bake small round cake balls. Instead use cake crumb mixed with buttercream to create a ball. They roll easily and taste better- because the icing is mixed in!" Whether it be cake or cake pops Sam's favorite combination is chocolate cake with peanut butter buttercream….yummmmm!

Sam has probably made hundreds of cakes here at The Cake Boutique but her favorite is the cute and whimsical monster cakes. Here is just one of the fabulous monster creations she has made!

What child wouldn't love this cake?!
Making cakes like this seems like a fun and easy job, but that is one of the biggest misconceptions of this industry. "This job isn't always luxurious- we don't just bake and ice cakes all day, but realistically it is a lot of hard work, training, dedication and it really is a lot harder than it looks!" In her opinion the best cakes are those that are "DYOT", the term coined here at The Cake Boutique meaning do your own thing basically allowing the decorators creative freedom. As decorators are in the zone creating cakes -giving them a chance to go with the flow usually makes the best cake rather than boxing them into an exact design.
