Wedding Wednesday: Reviews

You wouldn't buy a vacuum, speakers, or anything else online without first checking the reviews, so why would you order a wedding cake, invitations, photographer, venue etc. That being said, often times it is the one angry customer out of 100 happy ones that takes to the Internet and writes a review. My suggestion is rule out the worst and read the rest. Are the majority of the reviews positive or negative? What feel do you get from the reviews. Trust your instincts and don't be afraid to form your own opinion by going and checking out the business yourself. Lastly, if you are a bride remember that writing a positive review for the venders you are happy with is like writing a thank you card for the guest whom attended your special day- do it!

Have you received a delicious, beautiful wedding cake, and excellent services from The Cake Boutique for your wedding cake?! You can write a reivew on theknot.com!

Tip Tuesday: Dessert Tables

Quite often, people hosting parties instantly think we need to get a cake. Rather than just getting a large cake for the whole party- consider making the cake a bit smaller and order other small desserts in the same theme. This gives everyone an option for something sweet and makes for a very impressive dessert display! Check out this shower for 150 guests- rather than a cake to feed the whole group they opted for a smaller cake, cupcakes, macarons, rice krispie blocks, and cake pops!

Pintrest Picks

The internet is a great resource to draw inspiration from. I love using my pintrest account to save photos of things that inspire me for work, life, and my home. Here are some of my favorites I have drawn inspiration from recently.

Who doesn't love sparkles?! I love the edible sparkles on these cupcakes!

There are so many things I love about this cake,
the geometric accent tier, the large flowers,
and the touch of color!

I love finding new ways to make traditional wedding cakes
with a twist. I love how this wedding cake is all white and has
traditional flowers but the texture to the fondant makes
it unique and a show stopper!

Here at The Cake Boutique we must make about 3 mickey/minnie
cakes per week! After a while they all blend together-
so I love that this one is a little different. I love the draping of the
fondant on the base of this cake making it look like a skirt!

Wedding Wednesday: Holiday Weddings

Are you planning a holiday wedding?! Check out some of these gorgeous wedding cakes that I think would be perfect for a winter or holiday wedding. These cakes are perfect because they are over the top holiday but the simple touches are a perfect way to complete a holiday theme. Little pops of color or traditional winter flowers or foliage in small accents takes an ordinary wedding cake into a wonderful winter cake.

Tip Tuesday: First Birthday Smash Cakes

First birthday parties are an exciting day for the parents and family of these little guys. For many relatives, or long distance friends, this may be the first time they get to meet the baby. I've been to many birthday parties where the cake is first given to the baby for their first taste. I have also seen a baby dig into that cake like there is no tomorrow…..and then that cake is cut and served…yumm?? no gross!!
Aren't you so excited for a piece of cake?!

Lets be honest, no guest wants a piece of cake after a baby has slobbered and dug into it! Ergo the smash cake.  Here at The Cake Boutique we have created a 4"smash cake that is the perfect size for babies to get their hands into and the best part is it matches the birthday cake! Everyone can enjoy a clean and delicious piece of cake. Also, smash cakes are typically a vanilla cake and filling since most little guys aren't suppose to have chocolate yet but the larger birthday cake can incorporate any flavors that adults will enjoy. Here are just a few smash cakes we have created that match the birthday cake or invitation.

And if you don't believe me with how great smash cakes are, take it from these little guys that enjoyed their first piece of cake fromThe Cake Boutique!
