Wedding Wednesday: Cohesive Wedding Venue, Theme, Cake

After attending countless weddings, at the end of the night on our drive back home we are always discussing the food, music, and overall feel of the wedding. These days many brides get caught up in the "pinterest" small details, don't get me wrong little details make a difference but the overall feel of the wedding is what your guests are going to walk away with. The biggest key to a wedding is "cohesiveness". From the venue, to the colors, to the favors, and all of the small details if they all work together- that is what your guest will remember.

Beautiful Beach Cake...
but the venue was  an outdoor farm..?!?!
When choosing your wedding theme, venue, invitations and cake it is important to make them all cohesive. For instance, if your wedding venue is on a farm it doesn't make sense to have a beach theme wedding complete with a seashell cake and sand filled favors. We see this often when people come in and order their wedding cakes with these crazy themes or ideas that just don't match up with their venue. I have also had a customer come in and order a hunting themed cake for an elegant upscale venue. Or a BBQ wedding themed cake when they had the wedding at a country club and no BBQ food was served. If you want a unique cake a grooms cake is the way to do it.
