Tip Tuesday: 5 Tips for Making Perfect Pie Crust

It is that time of year again as people are prepping to buy their turkey and all the fixings for a delicious Thanksgiving meal. And a
Thanksgiving meal just isn't complete without a scrumptious pie for dessert. when making your pies this year remember these few tips for a delicious pie crust!


1. Unlike other baking recipes you want to keep your ingredients cold. This will inhibit gluten to develop in the flour. Use butter right from the refrigerator and ice-cold water.

2. Use the least amount of water possible, just enough to make the pie crust hold together start with the least amount listed in the recipe.

3. Lightly flour your working surface. Then position the rolling pin in the center of the disk roll away from you(12 o'clock  and roll the pin back to the center. Continue the process but with the 6 o'clock, 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock position. Repeat process until the dough is the diameter needed for your pie pan.

4. To prevent browning or burning of edges, cover the pie edge with 2-3 inch stripe of aluminum foil or a pie crust shield.
