Tip Tuesday: 5 Cake Baking Tips for Flawless Cakes

When baking cakes there are a few universal tips that will help you create a flawless cake.

1. Avoid Using Cold Butter: It is important for butter and eggs to be at room temperature for the mixture to emulsify correctly. If you are short on time microwave butter on low short intervals(to ensure you don't melt it) and place eggs into hot water for 10 minutes.

2. Measure Flour Correctly: Flour should be spooned into the measuring cup and then leveled off using a knife or other kitchen utensil. If you scoop flour or don't level it you will end up with more flour than you need.

3. Use a Pastry Brush: Using a pastry brush to butter pans will help with an even coat of grease and an easy clean up!

4. Position Pans Closest to the Center: Pans should be placed in the center of the oven for the best heat circulation as possible. Pans should not touch each other or the oven walls.  This will help for more even baking.

5. Cool Cakes Upside Down: This will help to flatten out the tops and helping during stacking of cakes.  If still too rounded use a serrated knife to remove the top.
