Cake Friday: Welcome Little Cub
Baby Shower Cakes don't always have to be traditional designs such as bottles, blocks, rattles or blankets. For example, this weeks cake of the week, was a baby Simba theme shower. Using the invitation we made a centerpiece shower cake!
First the cake is covered in ivory fondant. |
Then the cake is doweled to support the top tier. |
Next a fondant ribbion is cut and placed around the cake . |
Polka dots are cut in half and placed above the ribbon to mimic the invite boarder. |
To create a giraffe print similar to the invite random spot shapes are cut and placed close together . |
By adding a touch of water edible glitter is added to some of the spots to add that special touch. |
A brush is used to remove excess glitter. |
Our decorator places the top tier on and dowels the cake through the center for support. |
A hill is placed on and with a touch of water the Fondant Simba is added. |
A matching boarder is added to the top tier for a cohesive look. |
A small blue rope is put on the bottom of each tier to give a finished look. |
Palm tree trunks are cut free handed and individual leaves are places on in a wavy pattern to give a 3D look. |
To make coconuts our decorator rolls chocolate fondant. |
Using liquid food coloring our decorator adds the message |
To Finish off the cake "Welcome Little Cub" is placed between tiers. |
